The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is holding an International Workshop on Pollution Prevention and Sustainable Development on November 18-20, 2008 at the University of California San Diego.  An exciting program is being planned that will include presentations and informal discussions on the issues, progress, and technological solutions (from R&D to commercial) related to pollution prevention and sustainable development.  Of particular interest will be technologies applicable to military and aerospace operations, including:

Pollution Prevention

  • Cleaning
  • Coatings and pretreatment
  • Depainting
  • Electronics manufacturing and repair
  • Solvent reduction/recovery

Sustainable Technologies

  • Renewable energy (especially wind and solar)
  • Hydrogen and fuel cells
  • Bio-based products
  • Green buildings

Who should attend?
This workshop will be geared toward materials and process engineers from the United States, Europe, and elsewhere affiliated with government agencies as well as large and small businesses.

The workshop will take place at the University of California – San Diego. Information can be found here at the TEERM web site by selecting the menu items to the left of this page. Although there is no cost for the workshop, space is limited, so registration is required. Hotel information
A block of lodging rooms has been reserved for workshop attendees at the Embassy Suites San Diego-La Jolla: 4550 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego, CA 92122; Telephone (858) 431-2119. To reserve your room call the Embassy Suites at 1800-EMBASSY and reference the UCSD-NASA Conference group block. The room block will be held until October 17, 2008 or until all of the rooms are filled - so make sure to reserve your room early. Room rates will be at the government per diem rate. Important to note that individual credit cards will be charged one night's room and tax 72 hours prior to arrival. Individual reservations may be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to arrival without penalty.
Transportation from the Embassy Suites to UCSD will be provided free of charge to confirmed registrants.
